Are you your own best friend?
Writers need encouragement. It's wonderful if we have a supportive family, and friends who understand us.
Some writers are lucky. They have that.
Others don't.
Whether or not others support you, you should be able to count on one staunch source of support: yourself.
You need to be your own
best friend. You must do that for yourself. If you don't, you'll never be the writer you could be.
The question is, how do you do that?
How do you learn to trust yourself, and have faith that you can write what you want to write, and that no matter what happens to you, you'll be able to handle it?
Using affirmations helped me.
When I first started using them, I thought there was some kind of trick involved. I can be a little slow at times. :-)
Finally I figured out how it all works: essentially, affirmations helped me to befriend myself.
They encouraged me whenever I was down, and kept me optimistic.
These days, whenever I feel that I'm not firing on all cylinders, or I hear negative mind chatter, I know what to do. I take a good look at what's happening in my life, and make plans to sort it out.
I also immediately create a set of
affirmations to help me to do it.
I'm committed to being my own best friend.
I encourage you commit to that too. Everyone needs a best friend, who's always there.
